Lansallos Beach is a small, relatively quiet beach on the south coast of Cornwall, located between Polperro and Looe. It sits at the end of a wooded valley below the village of Lansallos and is accessed on foot. The beach is less developed than nearby destinations and is generally visited by walkers and those familiar with the area.
The beach consists of a mix of sand and shingle, with a narrow shoreline backed by steep valley sides and low cliffs. At low tide, more sand is exposed, although the overall size remains limited. The setting is natural, with no built promenade or seafront development. The beach is known for its sheltered position compared to the north coast, although conditions can still vary depending on weather and tide.
Access involves a walk of approximately one mile from the nearest parking area near Lansallos village, following a footpath through fields and woodland. The route includes uneven sections and some gradients. There are no formal facilities on the beach itself, and visitors should plan accordingly. The area is part of the South West Coast Path network, and the beach is often combined with longer coastal walks.
Lansallos Beach is best visited during spring and summer when weather conditions are more stable and the access path is easier underfoot. It is suitable for walking, short visits and quiet coastal stops rather than all-day beach use. The limited size, lack of facilities and walking access may make it less practical for families with equipment. Tidal variation affects the available space, and higher tides significantly reduce the usable area.
