Crooklets Beach

Crooklets Beach is a sandy beach located in Bude on the north coast of Cornwall, positioned just north of Bude town centre. It forms part of a continuous stretch of coastline that includes Summerleaze Beach and lies close to the edge of the town. The beach is easily accessible and is one of the main coastal areas serving Bude.

The beach consists of a wide expanse of sand backed by low cliffs and a grassy promenade. At low tide, the sand extends significantly, providing a large area for walking and general use. The beach faces the Atlantic and is exposed to consistent swell, creating regular waves. Crooklets Beach is known for its suitability for surfing and bodyboarding, as well as its open layout and relatively spacious feel compared to more enclosed bays.

Access is straightforward, with paths and steps leading down from the clifftop and nearby roads. Parking is available in designated car parks within walking distance, although spaces can be limited during peak periods. Facilities include toilets, cafés and seasonal lifeguard cover, with additional services available in Bude town centre. The beach is also connected to the South West Coast Path, making it part of longer coastal walking routes.

Crooklets Beach can be visited throughout the year, with the most favourable conditions during late spring and summer. It is suitable for surfing, bodyboarding, walking and general beach use, with enough space to accommodate a range of activities. The beach can become busy in good weather, particularly during school holidays. Exposure to Atlantic conditions means waves and wind can be strong, and swimming should be approached with care. Tidal changes affect the available space, with a larger sandy area at low tide.
